"I guess that could be a good grungey method, but your result is too dark and contrasted with the red, I'd say try not to use brushes unless using them to create a clip mask effect, Don't lower the opacity of the render, or erase parts of him, try smudging the background onto him, or smudge him into the background, as for text, Keep it small and simple, choose a color from the background/render and use a small font and just write whatever, and place it near the shoulder.
C4D's:
Effect c4d's:
They are c4ds with particles and random lines on a black background, when set to "screen" the black disappears leaving only the particles and lines, making some good effects. These c4d's are good for adding onto flow, not creating flow.
Normal c4d's:
used for backgrounds and for creating flow. set this to normal, and if a part don't look good, smudge it out.
Wireframe:
same as normal c4d's, 'cept you set it to multiply or screen, depends which color you want it to be.
